摘要

Before a mine is developed, a complete and thorough feasibility study is conducted to investigate the economics of such a venture. It is perceived to all concerned that the economic aspects of developing a mine from an ore deposit is the foremost concern of the individual or company who is attempting to develop the ore deposit. What is typically referred to as the "bottom line" or the projected cash flow is most generally the tool used to decide whether to develop the mine or relinquish the opportunity under its present conditions. The cash flow is determined from a difference between revenues and costs. It is the cost side of this equation that will be researched in this study. As with the revenue side of the cash flow, the cost components play a major role in analyzing project economics, and it will be my emphasis to research a number of cost calculations for a typical open pit and underground mine.;In addition to the main emphasis of cost analysis, a brief introduction of all major components of the feasibility study in a typical mining endeavor will be offered to establish a foundation for the analysis. Also, an investigation into the types of feasibility study levels which are typically used and the methods of cost estimations in each of those levels will be inspected. Additionally, the role of discounted cash flow analysis will be examined.
