This study examined the relationships between isotonic back squat scores and isotonic power clean scores (three-repetition max divided by subject's mass) and peak force, time-to-peak force, and (jump) height. The purpose of this research was to determine whether isotonic back squats or isotonic power cleans were a better predictor of max anaerobic power (as defined by peak force, time-to-peak force, and (jump) height) of 18- to 21-year-old male and female college athletes at Utah State University (USU).;Correlation coefficients were strongest for associations between peak force scores and power clean scores for both jump conditions (depth jumps and counter-movement jumps). This research indicates that power clean performance is a better predictor of peak force scores than back squat performance.
