摘要

Many Caribbean islands share common features and resources. Resource sharing has resulted in a number of complications for coastal zone management. Resolving these complications requires cooperation across management institutions. Coordination among stakeholder groups requires effective communication, and this could improve cooperation and facilitate better management. St. Vincent and the Grenadines was chosen as a model nation for identifying coastal issues, stakeholders, and types of communication because of its active role in Eastern Caribbean coastal governance. The main objective of this study was to use the q-sort methodology to assess the perceptions that exist about the communication of coastal resource management issues and make recommendations for improving communication among stakeholders, in SVG. The major finding of this study was that more than 75% of the statements related to awareness and engagement had significantly different mean q-sort scores. Five recommendations were proposed for improving communication among the different stakeholder groups in SVG.
