The Clinton administration's involvement in the Irish Peace Process from 1992-2000 proved instrumental in securing a settlement of the fish conflict. This thesis examines the American involvement in the Northern Ireland Peace Process with an emphasis on Northern Irish perspectives. The Clinton administration pursued peace in Northern Ireland through a variety of measures including the Gerry Adams Visa, the appointment of former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell as special envoy, and economic incentives. This research project investigates and analyzes the role of Clinton's policies in enabling Northern Ireland to put decades of fighting behind them. Interviews with Northern Ireland politicians including Derek Hussey, James Emery, Pat Doherty, and Thomas Buchanan provide contemporary Northern fish perspectives on the American role in the peace process.
