摘要

The purpose of this study was to develop a Violence Prevention for Youth Football Organizations program for players, parents, coaches, and referees. The violence prevention program is based on the principles of effective prevention programs and standards of the Blueprints violence prevention model developed by the Study and Prevention of Violence of the University of Colorado Boulder. Violence Prevention for Youth Football Organizations is a program developed to reduce violence within youth football organizations and improve pro-social skills as well as have effects of reducing violence within the community. The need for the Violence Prevention for Youth Football Organizations program is based on violence that occurs in youth football organizations including players punching each other after the whistle has blown to stop play, parents from opposite teams being aggressive towards each other because of a penalty, coaches becoming verbally or physically aggressive towards each other or with referees because they do not agree with a call, and referees becoming verbally hostile or physically aggressive towards a coach because of the coach's attitude. The intervention groups consist of 6 to 7 specifically designed topics that address Albert Bandura's social learning theory, social cognitive theory, and positive youth development. The violence prevention program addressed the development of a specifically designed program for youth football organizations to reduce violence within the youth football organizations and community but also demonstrate sustainability of reduced violence incidents for at least 12 months after the completion of the program. Implications of implementation, ethical considerations, and suggestions for future researched are discussed.
