There appears to be a lack of research that has examined differences between adolescent intrafamilial and extrafamilial sex offenders. The current study sought to detect any differences between these groups. The sample was comprised of 55 adolescent males enrolled in an outpatient group treatment program for sex offenders. Archival data from the Psychological Services Center (PSC), Fresno, CA, were analyzed. Variables included cognitive ability, criminal history, family history, and abuse history. Results revealed significant differences in cognitive performance and criminal and abuse histories between the two groups. Clinical implications, limitations of the study, and suggestions for future research are discussed.
