In many applications, self contained Electric Power Distribution Systems (EPDS) require high survivability under fault conditions. A fault produces an immediate change in the system topology resulting in potential loss of energy to critical system components and system collapse.;During fault conditions, it is required for the EPDS to maintain a minimum level of functionality. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to have supervisory control systems that can reconfigure the system topology from a fault condition to a new topology that meets minimal operation requirements.;This thesis presents an reconfiguration algorithm for EPDS, specifically for DC Zonal Electric Distribution Systems (DCZEDS), which solves the reconfiguration problem as a maximum flow optimization problem for power balance under safe operating conditions that takes load priority into consideration and minimizes the switching operations to achieve the new EPDS topology. The main tool is graph-theory, where the reconfiguration problem is solved by solving a multi-objective network flow optimization problem. Simulation results are presented that demonstrate the functionality of the proposed approach.
