Design of Experiments (DOE) is a methodology used in conjunction with other quality tools in determining the best combinations of factors and their levels in achieving maximum efficiency and yields. DOE is popular in the design and development stages of products, selection of materials, methods and suppliers for a business. Applications of DOE with Six Sigma and Lean helps engineers increase productivity to improve profits.;DOE principles reduce the number of experiments required to develop an improved process. The project was centered on application of DOE at ABC Aerospace Company with intent to enlighten the company management on the savings potential.;Many companies have used DOE to succeed over their competition. The project highlights the fact that use of DOE results in breakthrough improvements providing substantial savings and cost reductions.;The experiment resulted in substantial savings for the pilot controls. This will be emulated in other areas of the company.
