摘要

The focus of this study was on two quality management methods: Total Quality Management and Six Sigma. The study evaluated the impact of both quality management methods on organizational financial performance. Financial performance was measured by free cash flow (FCF) and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA). Total Quality Management (TQM) is a quality management approach that focuses on customer needs and process improvements designed to help organizations improve product quality, product service, customer satisfaction, and reduce management costs. Six Sigma uses statistical tools to reduce variation in processes such as: filling cereal boxes (manufacturing); generating home loans (financial services); and patient flow (healthcare). Six Sigma methodologies improve the value of an organization's outputs such as: quality, availability, reliability, and delivery performance (Arnheiter & Maleyeff, 2005).
