Pediatric Bipolar Disorder is a rising mental health concern, and a growing body of research indicates that the parents or guardians caring for these children need more education and support. As such, mental health professionals should be prepared with the tools to disseminate comprehensive information to parents in a psychoeducational format, an established effective adjunctive intervention. Despite parents' request for more information, self-care strategies, and support, there is currently no specified syllabus or manualized program that addresses the needs of these parents. This psychoeducational program offers education, support, and coping skills for parents managing their lives and their children diagnosed with Pediatric Bipolar Disorder. This program is presented in the form of a facilitator's manual and guide, as well as a comprehensive participant manual for parents. By participating in this program, parents will better understand Pediatric Bipolar Disorder, the most effective psychopharmacological and psychological treatments to manage it, and learn coping skills and self-care strategies to help themselves manage their child and the stresses placed on themselves as caretakers. Importantly, the program will also serve as a support system for parents in which they can feel heard and understood in their daily struggles. The program consists of eight 1 and 1/2 hour sessions in which a small group of parents will become more knowledgeable and subsequently more effective advocates for their children diagnosed with Pediatric Bipolar Disorder.
