Although the occurrence of Late Paleozoic rifting on thenorthern margin of Gondwana is widely accepted, theprecise reason for the rifting is not constrained. TheWoniusi basalts in the Baoshan terrane cover an area of-1.2×104 km2 and have been considered to be likely partof Late Paleozoic Himalayan volcanic groups （ZhouXiaoyao et al., 2016）. Therefore, precise dating of theWoniusi basalts is not only the basis of correlation withthe Late Paleozoic magmatism occurred within theHimalaya, but also is significant for constraining therifting history of the northern margin of Gondwana.
