The SAR imaging simulation of ships and sea background is an important method to develop the marine remote sensing theory .Taking into account that the characteristics of ships and sea background are different from terrestrial targets ,the current situation of the research on SAR imaging simulation of ships and sea background is reviewed from the methods and its advantages and disadvantages .
