China marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PLA Navy Baimamiao,a small town situated less than 20 km north of the Yangtze River,does not lie on the coast,yet it is credited as the birthplace of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLA Navy).The PLA Navy was established in this township on April 23,1949,and four decades later,the date was designated as the PLA Navy’s founding,officially commemorated ever since.
