正阳东西巷是历史文化名城桂林仅存的几条历史风貌尚存的巷子之一。现巷子虽成名副其实的陋巷，但仍是原居民的精神家园。目前，街区改造在即，历史街区的修缮整治应坚持历史的真实性、风貌的完整性和生活的延续性三条原则。汉唐风韵、明清风貌、桂北民居风格的仿古建筑无助于增加历史文化名城的历史内涵，再精美的仿古建筑也不可能唤醒已然沉睡的文化脉动，只能是抹去更多的现存信息和历史印记。%Dongxi aley of Zhengyang Road is just one of that historical style and features even preserving aleys in Guilin, a famous city of history and culture. Although it is a plain aley, it is stil a spiritual homeland of original people. Now, it is going to remold the residential district, the design of Han-Tang attraction, Ming-Qing scene, North of Guilin style of building, which is just an exquisite modeled architecture after an antique, it wil wipe off more historic informations, but not awaken the sunk in sleep cultural arteries and veins. So, renovating historic residential district should in conformity with these principles:authenticity of history, integrity of view and lasting of livelihood.
