Its historical experience in leisure provides a wealth of useful implications to Hangzhou’s urban construction in nowadays and to development of other cities in China. With kind offer of nature and historical opportunity, since Nan Chao in Eastern Jin Dynasty, especial y since the foundation of the capital of Southern Song Dynasty, Hangzhou has gradual y stepped into the realm of leisure. In the late Ming Dynasty, the seeds of capitalism provided increasingly rich material and spiritual conditions to Hangzhou’ s process to a leisure city. In nowadays, with well developed process of urbanization, conscientiously summing up experiences and lessons of Hangzhou’s urban development will be a useful reference to the future of urban development of cities in China.
