Ancient vil age Xiangyu is located in the southeast of Shanxi Province with complete spatial pattern, rich architectural heritage and high value of research and protection. In 2006, Xiangyu ancient architectural complexes were announced as the national key cultural relic’s protection units. It was also announced in 2010 for Chinese history and culture of the vil age. In this article, on the basis of field investigation and surveying and mapping, we discusses landscape, defense system and space characteristic, in order to reveal the unique charm of the traditional defensive mountain settlement and the characteristics of space.%湘峪古村位于山西省东南部，其空间格局完整，建筑遗产丰富，具有较高的保护和研究价值。2006年，湘峪古建筑群被公布为全国重点文物保护单位；2010年，湘峪村被公布为中国历史文化名村。在现场调查测绘的基础上，论述了湘峪村的村落格局、防御系统、排水系统以及空间特色，试图揭示其传统防御性山地聚落的独特魅力以及空间特征。
