How to deal with the relationship between old city historical and cultural environment protection and modem motorized traffic development in famous historical and cultural dries is always a key issue concerned by city planners and famous historical and cultural city protectors. We analyzed the reasons of traffic problems in famous historical dries, proposed the planning concepts and measures to deal with the relationship between motorized waffic development and historical and cultural environment protection at the aspects of overall city layout and old city internal and external traffic relationship, demonstrated the planning and construction practices in Suzhou, Xi＇ an, Siu Lain and other dries, and specifically described their successful experience.%如何协调好历史文化名城中旧城历史文化环境保护与现代机动交通发展的关系，一直是城市规划工作者和历史文化名城保护工作者十分关心的问题。分析了历史名城中交通问题存在的原因，从城市总体布局和旧城内外交通关系等方面，提出协调机动交通发展与历史文化环境保护的规划思路和规划对策，并列举苏州、西安和小榄等城市的规划建设实践，具体介绍了它们成功的经验。
