It’s hard to guess what might be waiting around the corner of streets along the Ili River in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.Liuxing Block is unlike any traditional neighborhood.The streets radiate from a central axis,dividing the block into six neatly arranged fan-shaped regions.From European-style attics with slanted roofs to Russian-style porticos,Kazak tapestry,Uygur wooden and stone carvings,and a variety of ironwork decorations.
