Sun Jian went to Australia in i989 to study marketing, and since his return in 1997 he had been on the senior management of the Lotus Center and B&Q. While holidaying in Hawaii, Sun chose to stay at a local budget hotel, and the experience was so impressive that he began to give serious consideration to Home Inns's offer of a position of CEO.
