To display video stream smooth, off-chip memory access is crucial factor in motion compensation and display feeder. First of all,the paper presents new memory access scheme based on motion vector analysis. More than 60% reduced cycle number is reported. Secondly, efficient memory access style for display feeder contributes sufficient bandwidth for data transfer, and special memory system keeps data undisturbed with each other. Accord-ingly, a special local AMBA only used for reference frame makes memory access at high speed and dual memory controllers make bus efficient. Experiment results show that the design supports 30 f/s real-time digital-HDTV 720p clocking at 60 MHz.
