It also analyzes the drawbacks of traditional EIA which no longer accommodates to the target of sustainable development. It discusses the new developments of traditional EIA adjusting to the former targer:strategy environment appraisal (SEA), cumulative influence appraisal (CIA), the public participation in EIA and the research and development of EIA expertise system under the sustainable development target.
