Most of mechanical seal failures are caused by improper use or installation, the analysis of design defects is often neglected. In this paper, through analysis of propylene reflux pump mechanical seal failure, an analysis method and improvement measures of design defects were put forward.%机械密封故障大部分因安装、使用不当造成的，对设计缺陷的分析通常被忽视，通过对丙烯回流泵机械密封的故障分析，提出对设计缺陷的分析方法，改进措施等。
