alleviation of environmental pollution and controlling of ecological deterioration has in-creasingly become a major concern in the 21st century. Environmental biotechnology is a group of technologies that use directly or indirectly biological organisms for the purposes of reducing environ-mental pollution ,purifying environment or producing useful substances. In order to provide theoreti-cal basis for further development of environmental biotechnology in China ,this paper summarizes the progress of biotechnology for wastes and hazard wastes treatment,biodegradable plastics and EM bio-technology,as well as the development trend of environmental biotechnology.%进入2l世纪以来,减轻环境污染和遏制生态恶化趋势已成为人们关注的焦点.环境生物技术是直接或间接利用生物或生物体降低或消除污染物,净化环境或生产有用物质的工程技术.现从废水、废气与有害废物的生物处理技术以及生物分解塑料技术、EM生物技术等方面论述了环境生物技术研究进展,并探讨了该技术的发展趋势.
