Objective To investigate the knowledge on diabetes in Guangdong natives. Methods 11 742 persons selected at random were face-to-face interviewed and were asked about their knowledge on diabetes consisted of 6 questions including symptoms, dietary habits, obesity, genetics, control and complications of diabetes. Results The percentage of correct answer for each question was less than 28%. Two third of the natives were muddled about the questions. Patients diagnosed before or persons who with higher educational level had high proportion of correct answers. Conclusion Knowledge in Guangdong native was scanty. Diabetes education should be focused on middle-aged and old people.%目的 了解广东省居民的糖尿病知识水平。方法 随机调查11 742名广东人，询问6个基本的糖尿病知识问题，包括症状、饮食习惯、肥胖、遗传、控制、并发症等。结果 各个问题的正确回答率，均低于28%；2/3的调查对象对询问到的知识不清楚；调查时已被诊断为糖尿病者、以及文化水平较高的回答正确率较高。结论 广东省居民的糖尿病知识很贫乏。30岁以上的中老年人应该成为糖尿病教育的重点对象。
