Black cotton soil is a type of soils which are mainly composed of clay minerals with sr-rong swelling poential.It is important to find out the degree of expansion and shrinkage of black cotton soil,which is the primary task of black cotton soil treatment.Based on black cotton soil samples which were taken from Kenny,a lot of swelling texts on the relevant micro aspect and geotechnical aspect were carried,analyzes there was good correlation between the total degree of expansion and shrinkage with the montmorillonite content and cation exchange capacity.By theoretical analysis,the authors identifying black cotton soil should be started from two aspects of expansion and contraction,and its index should be total rate of expansion and shrinkage,.%黑棉土是一种膨胀性很强的高液限黑色黏土,因为对黑棉土胀缩性认识不到位,给当地工程项目带来了严重的危害.以肯尼亚某项目黑棉土取样为依托,采用了理论分析和室内试验的手段,进行了大量微观和土工试验,分析出涨缩总率与蒙脱石和阳离子交换量具有很好的相关性,最后通过理论分析,确定了黑棉土的判别应从膨胀和收缩两方面共同入手,其指标应以胀缩总率为控制指标.
