The soil ant community on west slope of Mt. Ailao was investigated based on sample plot investigation method.Totally, 140 sample plots in 28 sample stands along 8 vertical vegetations at 4 different sections on the west slope were investigated. The results were as follows, 1) the total number of ground ant specimen was 41 554 belonging to 74 species,31 genera and 7 subfamilies; 2) The richness of dominant species was high. There were 10 species of soil ants whose number was higher than 1 000 individuals; 3) The number of endemic species were rich. 15 species of them belonged to monotypic genera, 36 species occurred only in one sample stands, and 25 species has less than 100 individuals.%采用样地调查法对哀牢山西坡4个地段8个水平带28块样地140个样方中的土壤蚂蚁进行了调查.结果表明.共采集土壤蚂蚁标本41 554头,分属74种31属7亚科;土壤蚂蚁优势种优势明显,有10种蚂蚁个体总数超过1 000头;土壤蚂蚁特有种多,有15属为单种属,36种蚂蚁仅在1个样地中出现,个体总数低于100头的土壤蚂蚁有25种.哀牢山西坡土壤蚂蚁种类丰富,且稀有性高,多样性保护价值大.
