XML requires style languages to implement its functionalities completely. The two major functions of stylelanguages are file transformation and formatting since DSSSL on the SGML arena. XSL follows the approaches of DSSSL,processing XML files as a tree, and there is only one feasible template for each node in that tree. The functions and char-acteristics of the two essential components ofXSL, XSLT and XSL-FO are briefly introduced, then the state-of-the-art ofXML data presentations is summarized.
