1917年9月，周恩来为了寻觅救国救民的真理留学日本。《周恩来旅日日记》是周恩来在日本求学时写的日记，这些文字记录了周恩来旅日期间将近一年时间内每日的生活、学习、社交和思想情绪的变化，特别是记录了他对日本文化和日本人国民性的感性认识，以及对于日本军国主义的罪恶与日本人民苦难的近距离观察。这段亲身经历及其思考，成为周恩来形成自己的对日观的主要渊源之一，也是其在抗日战争中以及建国以后坚持主张和实行“对日两分法”的认识基础。%In September 1917, Zhou Enlai studied in Japan in order to seek the truth to save his nation and people.‘Zhou Enlai’s Journal in Japan’was the diary Enlai kept writing during his study in Japan. His everyday life, study, social and emotional change in nearly one year were recorded via these words in the diary. He especially took notes on his perceptual knowledge of Japanese culture, Japanese national character and his close observation on the sin from Japanese militarism and its people’s suffering. This experience and thinking became one of the main sources of the formation in his views of Japan. And it has also become the basic cognition of his‘Dichotomy towards Japan’ which he insisted and carried out during both Anti Japanese War and the founding of People’s Republic of China afterwards.
