The dimension of the science of public security is just the standard of measurement for its development effects. The subject of public security science can be evaluated from the following ifve dimensions: theory, practice, innovation, and effect. For public security subject, the dimension of direction is the basis of the study development; the subject study is grounded on the dimension of theory; the dimension of practice is viewed as the carrier of the subject construction; the dimension of innovation is regarded as the power of the subject development; and the dimension of effect is the eventual aim of the subject building. All above should be considered and studied sufifciently to push forward the formation of core competitive strength of this subject in the process of subject construction.%维度是用以确定治安学学科建设发展成效的坐标衡量点。治安学学科建设可以从方向、理论、实践、创新和效用等五个方面的维度进行考量。方向维度是治安学学科前进的指引，理论维度是治安学学科立足的根本，实践维度是治安学学科研究的载体，创新维度是治安学学科发展的动力，效用维度是治安学学科建设的最终目的。在治安学学科建设中，应当充分考量这些基本点，推动学科核心竞争力的形成。
