汉英语对比属于对比语言学范畴，国内的汉英语对比研究始于马建忠和严复，20世纪70年代后，出现了汉英语对比研究热潮，科研成果大量涌现。汉英语对比主要包括现代汉语与现代英语句子、实词、虚词的宏观和微观对比，同时也包括古代汉语与现代英语的相关对比，对比主要以语法为中心。汉英对比对于大学英语教学、对外汉语教学、古汉语英译等许多方面均具有重要意义。%Chinese-English comparison belongs to the category of comparative linguistics.
