Taking the per capita GDP as the index of economic growth and the discharge amount of main pollutants as the index of environmental pollution level in Chongqing city from 1995 to 2012 , this paper establishes VAR mod-el of economic growth and environmental pollution and uses the generalized impulse response function and variance decomposition to analyze the dynamic relationship between economic growth and environmental pollution based on the VAR model. The result indicates that according to the different area,index types,data sources and other factors, the impulse response curve between economic growth and environmental pollution was inverted“U”type,“U”type,“N”type,double “U”type and wave shape;In different; period,pollution indexes for inhibition effect on the eco-nomic growth is different According to the inflection point of response curve between economic growth and environ-mental pollution,it is beneficial to take measures about the economic and environmental development timely.%本文选取1995~2012年重庆市人均GDP作为经济增长的衡量指标，以重庆市主要污染物排放量作为重庆市环境污染水平的衡量指标，建立经济增长和环境污染的VAR模型。在此基础上，运用广义脉冲响应函数分析和方差分解方法，对经济增长与衡量环境污染水平的各指标动态关系进行了实证分析。得出结论：根据选取的地区、指标类型、数据来源等因素的不同，重庆市经济增长与环境污染间的脉冲响应曲线表现为倒“U”型、“U”型、“N”型、双“U”型以及波浪形；在不同时期对经济增长起主要抑制作用的污染指标不同；根据经济增长与环境污染间的响应曲线拐点，可及时制定有利于经济与环境协调发展的措施。
