The interaction of an amphoteric surfactant, N-12alkylbetaine, and an acid dye in aqueous solution was studied by spectrophotometry. The results of the experiments show that the particle of dye interacts with one or several N-12alkylbetaine molecules when the concentration of the surfactant is less than the CMC. The aggregated dyes are disintegrated when the surfactant concentration is more than the CMC, and the individual dye ion interacts with the suffactant micelle.
