VB6. 0 is used to design a software for calculating the temperature distribution and ampacity of high voltage XLPE power cables based on finite element method (FEM). The graphic technology and database technology are used in the software. The laying scope of power cables in this software includes buried cables, pipe cables, channel cables and groove cables. Graphic technology is used for cables selection, conditions setting, bonding arrangement setting and environmental parameters setting. Database technology is used to save or modify cable parameters and duct parameters.
