在阐述测绘学发展史的基础上，列举并分析了几项对当今测绘学发展起重要作用的科学技术（以GPS、RS、GIS为代表），总结并阐述了在新的科学技术推动下测绘学的发展趋势，即随着数字地球构想的实施，传统的或现代测绘学将以地球空间信息学为发展趋势而展示良好的发展前景．%From the viewpoint of the history of Surveying and Mapping, it enumerates and analyzes several lately science and technology (taking GPS, RS, GIS as representative) which have played an important roles in the development of Surveying and Mapping. It elaborates the development trend of Surveying and Mapping under the promotion of the lately science and technology as a result. It has stated that with the actualization of the assumption on Digital Earth, the traditional or modern Surveying and Mapping will take the Geomatics as its development trend and a bright development feature will open up.
