Language and culture are inseparable .Language learning without cultural background knowledge can not reach the purpose of effective communication .In order to explain the importance of culture teaching ,teachers should understand the cultural background knowledge of culture teaching and the influence of culture on language teaching .Culture teaching also plays an important role in foreign language teaching .In order to explain the role ,it is necessary to explain its function in language teaching ,such as listening ,speaking ,reading and translation .We should realize the importance of culture in English teaching ,and apply it to teaching practice .%语言与文化密不可分，脱离文化背景知识的语言学习达不到有效的使用目的和进行交际的目的。为了解释文化教学的重要性，教师要了解影响语言教学的文化背景知识和文化对语言教学的影响。文化在外语教学中也扮演了重要的角色，为了解释文化在语言教学中所扮演的这些角色，有必要说明它在语言教学成分中，如听力、口语、阅读和翻译，执行的功能。我们应该认识到文化在英语教学中的重要性，并将文化教学应用到教学实践中。
