作为后现代主义的典范之作，贝克特的《等待戈多》到底写的是什么？自发表以来，这个问题在世界范围内激起了激烈的争论。总的倾向看来，大部分学者都把其主题看作是高度悲观主义的。其实这种看法并不符合作品的实际。单是一句台词“世界上的眼泪具有固定的量”就足以颠覆这种主题悲观说。本文从六个角度对此进行了系统阐发，并指出作品的最高主题主要是表现了人们对自己美好未来的顽强自信。既不是高度悲观主义的，也不是高度乐观主义的。靠着对物极必反的生活的辩证法的直喻表达，显示了贝克特对人生、对生活的深邃思考和非凡睿智。%Beckett’s Waiting for Godot,as the masterpiece of post-modernism,what does it write on earth It has aroused fierce debate in the world since its publish. Generally speaking,most scholars consider its theme as extreme-pessimism. In fact,this kind of idea is not in accordance with the reality of the works. Only one sentence in the works,The tears in the world have stable quantity,is enough to overturn this thematic pessimistic theory. This article illustrates systematically from six perspective, and points out that the highest theme of the works aims to express the confidence of people to the beautiful future. It is neither extreme-pessimistic nor extreme-optimistic. Relying on the expression of dialects of extreme meets, it shows Beckett ’s deep thought and extraordinary wisdom to life.
