Objective :To study the effect of valproic acid on body weight and serum neuropeptide Y level in pediatric patients with epilepsy .Methods :48 pediatric patients with epilepsy in experiment group who were selected according to the standard of selection during May 2011 to May 2013 were treated with VPA for 6 months .The parameters of body mass index(BMI) and serum neuropeptide Y levels were detected before treatment and 1 ,3 ,6 months after treatment , then investigated the association between them .24 healthy children were divided into the control group .Results:At 1 ,3 , 6 months after treatment in experiment group BMI and the serum neuropeptide Y both showed uptrend ,which were significantly higher than those of their control group at the same time point (P<0 .05) .Conclusion:The serum neu-ropeptide Y level was increased after valproic acid treatment ,which led the body weight of pediatric patients with epi-lepsy to increase .%目的：探讨丙戊酸钠（V PA ）对癫痫患儿体重及神经肽Y （N PY ）的影响。方法：按照纳入标准收集我院神经内科门诊2011年5月-2013年5月首次诊断癫痫后V PA单药治疗的患儿48例作为实验组，于治疗前、治疗后1、3、6个月检测患儿体质量指数（BMI）及血清NPY水平，分析两者之间的关系。另选择健康儿童24例作为对照组。结果：实验组治疗后1、3、6个月BMI及血清NPY均呈现出上升趋势，且两者在各时间点均明显高于对照组，差异具有统计学意义（P＜0．05）。结论：VPA能够使癫痫患儿血清NPY水平升高，导致患儿体重增加。
