Reduction of building energy use is currently considered essential for creating a resource-efficient society and a cardinal principle to adhere to in accomplishing a sustainable development. From the point of view of external building conditions, this paper discusses the design of residential districts of small towns to adapt to the climate characterized as hot summer and cold winter.
