Cipoetry, as a literary form, is most possessive of lyricism and musicality in expression, and such lyri cism and musicality result from many factors, of which repetition and reduplication is a critical yet long neglected one. Repetition and reduplication, according to the criterion of language unit, can be subdivided into repetition and reduplication at word, phrasal and sentence levels. If looked at from consecution perspective, repetition and redu plication can be subdivided into consecutive, indirect, and anadiplosis ones. Repetition and reduplication as a rhe torical device can give vent to the author' s emotions and feelings in lyricism, reinforce the author' s depiction of things in narration, and enhance the artistic charm in scenery description.
