Comparison and contrast are made between the two terms “Manly Women”and “Masculine Women”in terms of morphemes,meanings and cognitive process from the metalinguistic perspective.It finds that the following internal factors contribute to the phenomenon that “Manly Women”is more popular than“Masculine Women”:difference in their signified meaning,language style and actual practice.External fac-tors include celebrity effect and the call of the time.%从元语言视角分析“女汉子”与“女子汉”在语素、语义和认知方面的异同，挖掘“女汉子”火爆和“女子汉”遇冷的原因发现，其内部原因主要包括二者所指范围、语体风格、具体使用的差异；外部因素主要是名人效应和时代呼唤。
