With the methods of literature,behavioral geography and so on,the author analyzes the evolution of urban sports space in modern China based on the hierarchy of needs,and summarizes its rule,so as to provide enlightenmentfor solving the contradiction between people's needs and sports space in the new era.The study shows that:1)Urban sports space in modern China originated from the late Qing dynasty,extended in the Republic of China and shrank during the period of Ja-pan invading.This dynamic evolution process is in one-to-one correspondence with the needs of the Chinese people for sur-vival and security,social ownership and respect,and demand.It shows that urban sports space in China evolved under the influence of the change of the sports subjects' needs,developing with the rise of levels,shrinking with the reducing of the levels and there is basically positive correlation between them.2)In the new era,the main contradiction of our society has been transformed.The new high level needs determine the direction of the development of sports space.Therefore,we should establish cultural confidence,build historical and cultural sports space to realize the esteem needs,and popularize the national fitness,create sports space for self-actualization.We will ensure the stable development of the country,raise the level of national needs,and shape the sports space that fits into the new era.%采用文献资料和行为地理学等多学科研究法,基于需求层次理论,梳理和分析近代各时期中国城市体育空间的演变历程,并总结其发展规律,从而为解决新时代人民需求与体育空间的矛盾提供启示.研究发现:1)近代中国城市体育空间起源于清末、扩展于民国、萎缩于日本侵华时期,这个动态演变的过程正与国人各时期的需求——生存与安全需求、社会归属与尊重需求和需求的回落一一对应.这表明城市体育空间的演化受到主体需求层次变化的影响,随着需求层次的升高而发展,需求层次的降低而萎缩,二者基本呈正相关变化.2)新时代我国社会主要矛盾已经转化,高层次需求出现并决定了体育空间的发展方向.因此要实现尊重的需求,树立文化自信,建构体育历史文化空间;满足自我实现的需求,普及全民健身,打造全方位的体育空间;保障国家稳定发展,提升国民需求层次,塑造新时代体育空间.
