Records of the Three Kingdoms by Chen Shou holds that Ji Kang was a willful chivalrous swordsman. But such a personality is seldom mentioned in later ages. Willful chivalrous swordsmen valued justice above material gains,and they acted as the leader of heroes. The chaos at the end of the Han Dy-nasty provided them with the opportunity to make contributions. Ji Kang was not an ordinary scholar,so the rulers feared his power and influence in the heroes. Zhong Hui's slander on Ji Kang was only a chance to kill him.%陈寿《三国志》认为嵇康的性格为“任侠尚奇”。但其任侠的个性少为后世提及。任侠者轻财重义，往往为武士中的领袖。汉末大乱为其提供了建功立业的时机。而嵇康亦非寻常文士，其在豪杰中的影响力为统治者忌惮，而钟会的谗言或仅是处决嵇康的一个契机而已。
