In this paper, a description is given of the rapid urbanization in China and its influences on urban environments and urban forestry, the importance of urban forestry and the corresponding strategies for urban forestry development under the current background. Urbanization progress in China has accelerated in the recent years, which has caused air, water, soil and noise pollutions affecting human well-being, and has brought challenges to urban forestry. Urban forestry can solve the above mentioned problems to a certain degree, and can produce social and economic benefits. The corresponding strategies should be adopted to develop China＇s urban forestry under the current background of rapid urbanization, such as finding and utilizing more space for urban forestry, improving ecological functions of urban forestry, enhancing landscape benefits of urban forestry, modifying conventional practice of urban forestry development, developing urban forestry associating with the urbanization, and strengthening planning, management and research of urban forestry.%随着社会经济的飞速发展，世界城市化、工业化水平达到历史最高。城市环境问题日益暴露出来，并对人们的身心健康构成了严重的威胁，引起了人们的极大关注。出于对工业文明弊端的反思，城市林业越来越受到人们的重视。本文阐述了城市林业产生的历史背景、概念及其内涵，讨论了中国快速城市化进程对城市林业的影响，及该背景下中国城市林业的发展策略。
