汉语的＂句子＂不等于英语的sentence。英汉句子结构具有不同的本质,英语是以句子为取向的,句子界限清晰,而汉语是以篇章为取向的,句子不易判断。汉语＂句子＂与英语的＂sentence＂并不具有同样的心理现实性。汉语的＂句子＂是具体使用的单位,其话题是一个语篇概念,而不属于形式语法的研究范围。从结构和功能两个方面来看,汉语的＂句子＂更相当于英语的discourse。%Juzi in the Chinese Language is not equal to sentence in the English language.In English,a sentence-oriented language,the category sentence has clear-cut boundaries,but in Chinese,which is discourse-oriented,the term Juzi defies easy definition.This paper attempts to show that Juzi and sentence are false friends,which do not share the same psychological reality,and to prove that Juzi is closer to the English discourse both structurally and functionally.
