Since the book “Biography of Mr. Wuliu” was published, it has been interpreted from such perspectives as recluse, Confucianism, Metaphysics and Buddhism. Reclusively, Mr. Wuliu’s otherworldly value is praised but his care for human is ignored. From the perspective of Confucianism, Mr. Wuliu’s care for human is paid much attention to but the universe ambition at unity of heaven and man is ignored. Metaphysically and Buddhistically, the unity of heaven and man and superundane attitude toward life are attached great importance to but the life itself is ignored. Contemporary authors attempt to interpret “Biography of Mr. Wuliu” from the perspective of life itself instead of that of social politics, ethics and morals. This Biography provides an aesthetic lifestyle which can be referred and imitated for the individual living life. Mr. Wuliu is an ideal figure who merges history, reality and future together.%《五柳先生传》诞生以后，基本经历了隐士、儒家、玄学、佛学等视角的解读。隐士的视角肯定了传主超拔世俗的高逸，却忽视了传主的人间关怀；儒家的视角重视了传主的人间关怀，却忽视了传主天人合一的宇宙胸怀；玄学、佛学的视角重视了天人合一、超言绝象、超越世俗的人生境界，却忽视了生活、生命存在的本身。当代学人力图摆脱政治社会和伦理道德视角，从生活、生命本身出发来阐释《五柳先生传》。《五柳先生传》为具体生命的现实存在提供了一种可资借鉴和模仿的审美生活方式，五柳先生是一位融会着历史、现实与未来的理想人物形象。
