By using logical analysis and literature study and on the basis of theories of history and culture,this paper re-views how sword was used as weapon and then as part of culture.Sword was created under the influence of the oriental culture,given institutional and spiritual meanings as a kind of weapon.Eventually,it is not used to kill but as a symbol of status,power and ritual.At present,it is more used for recreation.%诉诸于历史学和文化学的学理，运用逻辑分析和文献资料等研究方法，追忆剑由术至文化的演绎之旅。研究发现，自剑产生以来受东方文化影响，在文化的器物技术层面基础上，被赋予了文化的制度习俗和心理精神层面的内涵。最终它不仅是一种杀人利器，亦是一种身份象征、权力代表和祭祀法器，时至今日更是一种休闲之具。
