Dostoevsky proposed a "man from man" proposition in his private letters. In Dostoevsky ˊs en-tire writing career,he was thinking about this issue all the time . In "Crime and Punishment ",the mystery a-bout the "man from man" was found together with the process of Raskolnikov spiritual exploration. The tragic hero in "Crime and Punishment " saw the nature of world alienation clearly,left away from the society he lived,and attempted to express individuality and freedom through personal struggle. But Raskolnikov misunder-stood the meaning of freedom,and in his eyes,freedom developed into the right will with compulsoriness,mark-ing the loss of his internal freedom.
