： With the rapid development of Xinjiang tourism in recent years, the crafts market is increasingly flourishing. However, there are still some problems in product design and production and personnel short age. The author investigates the local demand for tourist crafts design personnels and this industry＇s present status. Based on the study of the art ＆ crafts design and production specialty in Urumqi Vocational Univer sity, this paper explores the approaches to cultivate the professional talents in this field, which is of signif- icance to the specialty construction of other vocational universities.%新疆旅游业近年来快速发展，旅游工艺品市场繁荣，但在产品的设计研发和制作上均呈现出不同程度的问题。专业人才稀缺。针对目前状况，本文对新疆旅游工艺品设计与制作专业人才的需求、行业发展现状进行了调查研究、对比分析，并以乌鲁木齐职业大学旅游工艺品设计与制作专业为例，探寻了旅游工艺品专业人才的培养途径。对同类院校的专业建设有一定的借鉴意义。
