Ronald Egan is professor of Chinese literature and chair in the department of East Asian Lan⁃guage and Literature at Stanford University in America.He is also the president of American Oriental Society. His researches not only involve many different fields,such as poetry,ci,prose,notes,calligraphy and paint⁃ing,but also have obvious characteristics of cross⁃era and cross⁃discipline. His research objects include Zuo Zhuan in the Pre⁃Qin period,Ouyang Xiu and Su Shi in the Northern Song Dynasty,Li Qingzhao and Hong Mai in the Southern Song Dynasty and Qian Zhongshu in modern times.
