By reviewing Scarlett＇s conflict personality in Gone with the Wind according to the Prototypal Criticism theory, we find that it was the conflict between traditions in South America and Scarlett＇s strong personality that made her ambivalence. Her strong personality finally conquered the traditional bondages which make Scarlett a bril- liant female image in literature history.%根据荣格的＂原型＂理论重新审视《飘》中的女主人公郝思嘉的矛盾性格,发现美国南方社会传统与主人公强烈的个人意识的斗争造成其性格的矛盾性,而最终其个人意识战胜传统束缚,这使得郝思嘉成为文学史上光辉的女性形象。
